Gettin’ Ready for Ukraine

I’m now shopping for airline tickets, yay!

I need to know ASAP if you want to join the team so get in touch as soon as possible.

To get the most reasonable airfares we need to be flexible on our travel dates.

Please let me know if a departure day of December 3 or 4 or 5  would not work for you.

And for return on December 11 or 12.

Thank you for all the prayer over our preparations.

This is a great opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas with the orphans and underprivileged children of Ukraine!

Mission to the Dominican Republic January 21-29

We will leave Grace Bible Church and travel to the DR and back together.

Swimsuits?

 You may want to put your swim suit in your bag for this weekend: there is a hot tub at the Princeton house :-}

For you first timers: this is not something to expect in the Dominican.

Rest

Matthew 11

28. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls.

30. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

"Rest" and "holidays"  are two words that are not usually combined.

I think that is Jesus' point in these verses though. For many, the holidays are a burden: presents to buy and wrap, food to prepare, dealing with family. This is exactly when Jesus instructs us to come to Him.

Jesus understands stress, He walked in human form. And He offers relief, if we just come to Him. Not another "thing to do," but a relationship to truly rest in.

Mission Retreat 2021

Ever had any thoughts, questions or ideas about Short Term Missions?

Come share them at the Mission Retreat January 16-17, 2021.

Everyone is invited!

We may not be able to travel to the Dominican Republic but we can gather here for fellowship, learning, food  (and games)!

We’ll gather at the Princeton house (curtesy of the Spears family) for traditional Dominican food plus barbecue, burgers etc. and of course lots of deserts. starting about noon on the 16th. The fun will continue overnight and we’ll head to church on Sunday morning.

Carpooling will be available.

We need to know how many will be there so we can stockpile enough food and prepare rooms. Come for part of the time or the whole thing. Want more information? Please text or email Roxanne (608) 617-0451, drwho2@icloud.com

The cost? Only your time!

Decision

2020 has been a year of change

The Dominican Republic continues to be in the CDC  “red zone” for travel.

After much prayer we decided that our Short Term Mission Team would not travel to the Dominican Republic in January 2021.

But the mission continues

We will have team meetings, prayer for the DR and in-country staff and hold a fund raising event.

Please join us in supporting this vital ministry bringing the good news in the Dominican Republic

Fleas

Corrie ten Boom and her family were incarcerated by the Nazis in a concentration camp because they had helped Jews. In “The Hiding Place”, Corrie relates that the guards relocated some of the prisoners into a filthy barracks crawling with vermin. Corrie’s sister had the faith to say, “thank You for the fleas.”

It turned out that the Nazi guards would not enter the barracks because of the fleas so the prisoners were able to have Bible study there.

How remarkable that her sister had the faith to say “thank You for the fleas” before she knew this.

In the Green Letters Miles Stanford states, “Life is meant to bring a succession of discoveries (fleas?) of our need of Christ, and with every such discovery the way is open for a new inflow of the supply.” (Page 28.)

I yearn to have the faith to say, “Lord, thank You for COVID-19” and wait to see the miracles that only He can do.
