1/22 Update and prayer requests

El Cercado
Our construction team did an awesome job of tearing out some worn out cabinets and cleaning out a cistern. Tomorrow they will go back and form up cabinet frame so that 2 inches of concrete can be poured on top. Jim B will be right at home measuring dimensions and planning the build.This particular room is being remodeled to be a dentist office.
Please pray that we might find a cistern pump so that water may flow again at this school.

El Corozal Yabonico
Our first barrio clinic was at a remote village across several shaky bridges over fast running water, up some steep hills and down some deep valleys. But it was worth it! We set up in the community center and saw 89 patients including 2 home visits for housebound folks. One of the young ladies we saw has a serious heart malformation and will be seen at the clinic here in San Juan. This may literally save the girl’s life. Dr Boris (Dominican doctor) was with us as well a wonderful team Dominican Ministry Assistants (translators and so much more).
We made it home in spite of a trailer tire literally shredding :-| The guys got it changed in less 10 minutes with the help of (or in spite of) the Americans :-}

 Praise God for the work He is doing in and through our brothers and sisters in Christ! There are several prayer requests worth mentioning contained in this update, and I encourage those who are so inclined to take note of them and pray accordingly:
  • Safe renovation and expedient operation of the dental facility
  • Location and successful installation of a new cistern pump
  • Safety for the medical team as they traverse rugged terrain and infrastructure
  • Continued integrity and soundness of the vehicles and equipment necessary for the work to be done
  • Sufficient supplies and availability of appropriate treatment to handle such a high volume of people in need
  • The wisdom and sustaining power of the Holy Spirit to minister to the team members as they minister to the needs of the people
  • Above all, opportunity and umption to speak the true gospel of Christ which is the power of God unto salvation to them that believe.
 Also, I would like to suggest that, along with your prayers, if you would like to send your own personal encouragements to the away team while they are abroad (if you don't already have contact with them), you might be able to do so by commenting on these updates right here on this blog. As you remember them in your prayers, I am sure that they would like it to be known that they are continuing to remember the Grace Bible Church family back here in prayer as well.

 The Lord bless you and keep you all, and may God be glorified and Christ proclaimed in all of our lives as we each seek ways to love people to life in Christ, both here locally and abroad.
