Rewind: Thursday January 24

Medical Team
Los Lamederos, Las Charces
Busy morning with a visit to CCED school in San Juan for the flag raising. The students here receive one of the best educations in the country. The national government awards 5 scholarships for the entire country each year for students to go to Medical School. Last year all five recipients were graduates of CCED.
Solid Rock sponsors this school as well as four others in the area and arranges sponsors for students whose family cannot afford for their children to attend.
The children not only receive a solid Christian education, food and clothing, they learn about nutrition, many of the trades such as welding, plumbing. Training in computer science is available.
Catching up from yesterday:
The team saw over 160 patients. We were able to do 3 home visits and 3 house calls. On the house calls I was able to several elderly patients who’s family were caring for them with love but unable to get medical attention. One had untreated diabetes that was causing confusion, weight loss and dehydration. The team was able to supply several months of medication and arrange with the local church leader to see that he would be able to get more. Another patient was burning up with a fever for four days and becoming very confused. The family had no access to even Tylenol. We were able to treat her pneumonia, give some instructions on care, thanks to our Physical Therapist Dannie, and witness to the entire family.
The Lord added 7 Dominicans to His family!
That evening we all went to dinner at a local restaurant. Some of the brave also went for ice cream in town.
