First, thank you for being on our team! God has blessed us with a united spirit of loving and serving others. Our time in the Dominican Republic may have been short but the seeds planted, words shared, and actions witnessed have long-term impacts on those we served, served with, and ourselves. Please continue to pray for someone to come alongside and nurture those seeds, for protection from the enemy as he strives to tarnish work accomplished with almost truths, and for our spiritual growth and unity as we return to our schedules and life. May the work the Spirit has been doing within us also be nurtured into a stronger foundation in Him.
Philippians 2:1-8
"Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being in the appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." NASB
Second, there are some questions we would like you to take time over the next few days to answer and record in your Mission Team Manual and share with us at our next meeting (date TBD).
- Did the mission meet your expectations? If so, in what concrete ways? If not, how?
- Was your preparation (individual and team) helpful? Any suggestions for improvement?
- Were the team meetings prior to going and was this manual helpful to prepare? Did you attend each one?
- Would you recommend a short-term mission to someone else? Why or why not?
- How could the mission be improved?
- What was your favorite part of the experience? Your least favorite?
- Have you changed, and if so how? How might you integrate these changes into your daily life?
- Were there experiences that gave you a new lens to view life through?
- Did you learn from the nationals? (Seek first to understand then to be understood)
- Were you given opportunities to minister to your team, hosts, and/or nationals?
- How did others bless you?
- Rate efforts to learn the local language. How did it affect your experience?
- Would you consider another short-term mission? Why or why not?
